WHen the weather is good, the temptation of photo shoot came. Grapped my whole system of m4/3 and went out for a shoot. Equipment includes, EPM-1 & G1 bodies. Mounted with 20mm, 45mm and fisheye 7.5mm. For the Fisheye, as it is a manual focus lens, I set it at F8 aperture and tune to infinity focus. In good light, everything is on focus. That's a fun lens to use. Places I shoot was the Little India streets and the Kranji WWII Memorial site.

Old yet capable- G1
Had a chance to bring out the mini-dslr look m4/3 camera. I prefers to match it with the olympus 45mmf1,8 lens. The AF speed is very postive on this lens. I always thought that this lens is best match with the latest EP-3 or EPM-1 but it seems to perform well with Panasonic cameras as well. For EPM-1 , switching to/fro EVF (optional accessories) and LCD, one needs to press a button on the EVF. For G1, there is a eye sensor where it will auto switch when one lift the viewer to the eye. Love this feature. I gathered that the latest G3 has ommited this feature. Some people have expressed this dissatifaction. Nevertheless, it's a matter of getting use to it.

Nice Combo- Simple shoot with dramatic effect
Came across this scence in my local park. With a bridge overhanding above me and with the sun infront of me. Using the Samyang 7.5mm fisheye and Olympus Pen with dramatic art filter, I am able to create a "HDR" effectwith a just a single click. No need to have multiple exposure and photoshop time.

Lumix G1- revisit to Panny first m4/3 camera
Panasonic launched this first m4/3 camera which looks like a mini-DSLR in 2008. During that time, I didn't jumped into it unitl their GF-1 (rangefinder look) was launched. This type of camera made me enjoyed photography again due to their light weight and small size. The image quality is as good as a DSLR too.
After using Panasonic Lumix and Olympus Pen (they share the same mount as m4/3). I honestly prefers Olympus Jpeg pictures. Somehow or rather, the Olympus Jpeg photos seems to "pop" out in terms of colours. Olympus Art filter is a great feature too.
However, Panasonic's cameras seems to be better in handling and practical in design. The AF was fast too. As the built-in EVF on G1 has a resolution of 1.4 million pixels (same as the latest OM-D), it is a great feature and using it will manual lens will be a great help.
Many people will of course will mention that Olympus Pens have built-in image stabilisers and Panasonic chooses to stabilised their lens. If one knows what he/she is doing, this feature is not so important but a good to have thing.
I got this old G1 from a Used Store and bought it at SGD$250. With a senor of 12MP, reasonable fast AF, handles like a DSLR, tiltable LCD screen, manual controls, built-in EVF and can mount all m4/3 lens, I think it is a good deal. I bought it mainly to use it as a back-up for my events shoots as changing lens was rather incovenience I still prefers my EPM-1 Pen from Olympus.
