Kranji Marsh Land

This marsh land existed in Singapore for almost 30 years ago. It was actually "artificially" created when the Kranji Reservoir was created. The Kranji reservoir used to be a salt water river linking to the Straits of Johore. Our government dammed the mouth of the river thus causing the flooding of the lowlands along this area.  Now it is a freshwater reservoir. This area used to house many fish farms. After the moving out of fish farms and flooding, the place was abandoned for many years. Nature took place, forming a nature eco system on its own thus attracting many birds & wildlife.

The NParks had developed this area so that it is accessible by the public. It was officially open early this year. There are some sensitive areas which are only accessible thru guided tours.

I was the first and only visitor today at 7am. Had a great time appreciating the nature and a late sunrise.
When I am done shooting ard 9am, visitors started to slowly flood the place.
As my equipment is not suitable for birding, I focus on macro, wildlife and landscapes.
Equipment used are FujiFilm XT-1, XF55-200mm (extension tubes/raynox close-ip) & Zeiss 12mm.
