May Day Sunrise

A set of Sunrise photos done at Lower Seletar Reservoir. Today is a public holiday and I woke up to a beautiful start of the month of May.

Shot with X100 and XT1 w Zeiss 12mm.

All shot with Velvia simulation available of both old X100 and newer XT1.

XT1 w 12mm. From the comparison with the XtranII processor &  newer XT1 16 MP sensors Vs the X100 12MP Cmos sensor, the XT1 seems to have more dynamic range & is better in holding back the blowing out of highlights.

Fuji WCL-X100

This wide angle conversion lens was bought 2 weeks back and this is the first time I mount on the Fuji X100. It will become a 28mm wide angle equivalent lens once mounted.

After mounting, I felt the weight and distribution of the X100 become like another interchangeable lens camera. The magic of the X100 fixed slim lens was gone.

I also had to adjust my style of shooting as I need to move in closer for the shot. I still prefer the 35mm equivalent lens. Nevertheless, the shots are good as shown below.

Comes handy for landscapes and when the the area is too narrow for one to move backwards.
Will most likely to use this lens for the special occasion and it will not be my everyday focal lens.

Original Fuji X100

The original X100 that takes the X series to become one of the most popular mirrorless systems in the world.

Due to the price down of this camera, I bought it again and this time added a WCL-x100 wide conversion lens with it. The total price of the X100+conversion lens is equal to a new 23mmf2 WR XF lens.

My current XT-1 system lacks the 28-35mm range in terms of full-frame figures.

X100 still remains special to me, When I review back all my photos in my hard-drive, most of the keepers are from X100. I had the Xpro-1, XE-1, XE-2 & XA-2 before but it is the X100 that I keep going to pick it up as my first choice. There is something made right in the X100 series. Maybe it is that tiny fixed-lens with 9 blades aperture with the metal aperture ring or that hybrid viewfinder that made the difference. The built-in ND filter and the built-in macro mode also made this fixed-focal length camera a convenient tool.

It does not have the current fast AF speed of the X cams or whistle & bells of the fourth edition X100F but it does still have the soul and capability of nailing the shots.

The clicking sound of the aperture lens felt much more like a real film era lens than the XF lens like my 35mmf1.4, The sound of the "squeezing" leaf shutter still make my heart beat compared the DSLR shutter sound made by the XT1.

As it is bought at a low price now, there is no fear of losing it or damaging it thus I am more keen on experimenting different shots etc

Phlong Teoy Pier Market @ BangKok

This series is shot inside the old wet market at Bangkok called Phlong Teoy Pier Market. It is one of the oldest and biggest wet markets in the city.

Strolling in and taking photos with a XT1 and 35mmf1.4, one can see many types of poultry, seafood and vegetables in an old setting.
